There Is Always Light After Dark ( Typhoon “Hagupit” Ruby )

Last few weeks’ experienced were not that easy for us but we are still thankful for all your concerns, your good thoughts, and most especially for all your prayers. I’m happy to tell all of you that we are all fine. We manage to stay still and made it through. But I am so sorry for not giving an update immediately. Things made me sick lately so I just give some time for myself to rest. As a full-time housewife with two kids, plus managing a mini-convenience store takes a lot of pressure. So, please bear with me and hope you’ll stay tuned for more posts. As for now, I am reblogging this one nice article which my husband wrote. You’ll see here how the typhoon devastated some of the areas here in our country, Philippines.

This is the latest location of the Typhoon “Hagupit” or known as  Ruby, in the Philippines.

We are expecting a super typhoon as it landfall in the Philippines. But, thank God the storm weakens as it slowly enter the PAR (Philippines Area of Responsibility).

The northern part of Cebu is one of the many places that covers the route of typhoon hagupit. However, the path lifted up a bit going to the southern part of Luzon. Thus, we experienced minimal winds and rainfalls.

We are all happy though again, it took few lives of our countrymen. More or less, there were 8 fatalities reported.

Perhaps, the power of our prayers and all other nations helped a lot by sending message to God to stop the super typhoon. And yes, it was no longer a super typhoon as it enters the country.

I thank God for…

Typhoon Hagupit (Ruby): Part 2

The awaited typhoon isn’t here yet. Power supply is okay but where is Mr. Sunny Day? Are you also scared of the incoming typhoon, Mr. Sun? Oh, Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun.. (As the kids’ song goes..)

Last night, together with my husband, we went to the supermarket to buy some groceries for the house, and some stocks for our store as well. The supermarket was so busy, a lot of people also went shopping. And thought that panic buying isn’t just for Christmas season.

You could always hear passersby talked about the typhoon. So, it’s sometimes hard to choose to feel okay when all the talking you’ve heard is almost all about these. Perhaps, I wouldn’t feel so scared if I’m single right now and no kids to worry about.

To be honest, I was overwhelmed by your thoughts and prayers as I opened my notifications this morning. In behalf of my family, I would like to thank you all for your concern.

My husband left for work early this morning. And as I checked outside, the weather seems calm. But unlike yesterday, the sun didn’t show up. Though there’s no strong wind yet, but the sky shows no good sign at all.

This life-threatening typhoon all over the news and people’s word of mouth these days really scared us all. I don’t wanna know intensely  the whole details of the news updates now. I just rely on my hubby’s explanation on how strong would that be. He also explained to me according to news reports, that the super typhoon Hagupit stayed at the Pacific Ocean, and the longer it stays there, it would develop into a much more stronger typhoon.

While eating breakfast, I had this crazy conversation with my son. He asked me “Mom, if I’m going to heaven, will I become an angel?”. My heart beats faster but manage to answer him, “Yes, of course my dear.” Then he added, “Then, I will have wings and powers too?”. “Oh, yes! I said.”  Then he felt worried and asked again, “But how will I fly?, how will I control my wings? I really don’t know!” I laughed and told him,  God will guide you. 🙂 That was a funny thing, but what was this kid thinking?. He once told me that when he grew up, he wants to become a superhero. Hmmm…

Back with the typhoon update, it is said to make landfall on Saturday evening. So, we’re expecting to  have a rainy weekend.

Typhoon Hagupit (Ruby): Part 1

A little bit scared by the threat of another incoming super typhoon
here in the Philippines. Typhoon’s name would be Ruby. Forecasters estimated it to make landfall later tonight or maybe early morning tomorrow, December 4, 2014.

It was just last year when our country, Philippines was hit by a super typhoon named Haiyan (International Name). And today we are threatened again by the same calamity. I’m asking you my dear friends to say just even a little prayer for all our safety here.

Today, the weather seems okay. It’s a sunny day and a bit windy. But I choose not to open my store this morning. Alone with my 7 and 1-year old kids, I’m preparing my mind and my very self for all the household chores for today, and the stuffs for the next few days just in case the typhoon will push through.

When my husband left for work early this morning and while the kids were still sleeping, I had to do the cleaning of the house, do the cooking, and preparing my kid’s things for school.

When my son woke up this morning, he told me that he won’t go to school because he’s scared of the typhoon. He even asked me ” how can I go home this lunchtime if there’s typhoon already?” then I explained to him carefully that the typhoon isn’t coming yet, just to make him feel at ease. As he left for school I told him to come home for lunch and we’ll eat together.

On lunchtime, my son came home but unexpectedly he was carrying his backpack. He was supposed to leave his bag in school because after a one-hour lunch break he has to go back to his class. So, I asked him “Why did you bring your bag?” he then answered “I will be absent because I feel tired, Mommy.” I got his bag, it’s a little heavy anyway so, I just hugged him and no plans of interrogating him.
I felt at ease anyway because my son is just right here with me when everybody else is so busy preparing themselves from the incoming typhoon.

And that’s all for now. I promise to be back later for more updates, not unless there’s power outage.

Keep safe, everyone.

Two Things You Won’t Expect During Pregnancy

AN EARTHQUAKE

I was 8 months pregnant with my second baby when a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hits Carmen, Bohol and other parts of Southern Philippines on October 15, 2013 at 8:12 am.

Our visit to my mother in-law’s house together with my husband and my 6-year old son became memorable. It was Tuesday morning, we were eating breakfast and having a little chit-chat with my husband’s mom, catching things up.

I weighed a little heavier that time, so I just get food from the dining table and choose to sit down on a sofa in the living room so I could relax my back and eat there while watching TV. Sitting beside me was my son, while feeding him I felt shaking a bit, I was speechless as if my mouth was glued and couldn’t open it. I paused and observed everybody, hoping that I won’t feel it again. But the shaking continues..

Without saying a word I grab my son’s arm, stood up, and put my plate to where I was seated, then rushed outside the house barefoot and everybody else followed us. We were standing outside, in the middle of the road, holding hands together. Other families were doing the same. It’s like we were grouping ourselves for some game.

As the tremors continues, more and more people from the neighborhood came out of their houses.

People were scared to death. I was petrified with fear and thought the ground won’t stop from shaking. I could see some people crying, while others were calling all the name of the saints they could remember, and started saying a prayer hoping for it to stop right there and then.

It took few seconds to stop. Kids were scared. I can still recall as my son asked me with a worried-look face, “Mom, what just happened? Why did we rush outside without wearing any slippers?

That experienced horrified us all, especially if you have growing kids. You will probably be worried for their safety.

That terrifying feeling does not end there. The aftershocks were felt every now and then and lasted until a few more months.

And just this month, November 10, 2014 to be exact at around 9:00am I felt a moderate earth shake while I continue writing this article. I wasn’t really sure if it’s an earthquake, so I checked on the news report and it stated that it was a 3.7 magnitude earthquake.

A SUPER TYPHOON

Three weeks after that strong earthquake another calamity has come. I was almost 9 months pregnant when super Typhoon Haiyan, known as Typhoon Yolanda here in my country, Philippines devastated parts of Southeast Asia, particularly the Philippine area on November 8, 2013.

Early that morning as advised by the forecasters we were preparing things for our emergency kit, stuffs like medicines, flashlights, candles, and a lot more. Goods were bought days before.

The weather is awful with heavy pouring rain and it’s cold outside. We’re expecting for a stronger wind in a few hours as the typhoon landfalls before noontime.

I felt so uneasy thinking of my family’s safety. What if I’ll give birth suddenly?, or what if we need to evacuate if the storm gets worst? How would I move so fast when I’m carrying a little one inside me. A Few scary things were playing in my head.

All the news I have watched on TV says it all. It’s no joke! It’s been called a super typhoon because it was estimated to have a really strong speed.

I made sure all our phones are full-charged. Mom phone called some relatives to check if their emergency kits were ready just in case.

All set..

When the most awaited super typhoon entered the Philippine area, as if the heaven was furious, I can hear the annoying sounds of the roofs of our neighbor’s houses as the strong wind starts blowing with heavy rainfall. People were vigilant and some were busy monitoring the neighborhood.

I got scared every time I saw someone strolling outside, enjoying the rain and pretending to be kids. They might hit by a roof that has blown away.

Approximately after two hours the weather slowly calmed down. We survived!

But there’s a power outage few more hours later. And when there’s no electricity, there’s also no water supply and that’s the way it is. No electricity means we will all gonna sleep without air-condition nor electric fan and expecting to hear the buzzing sound of the mosquitoes later at night.Uh oh!

Good thing my husband devotes great care to us, he even stay awake just to fan us, me and my son. In order for us to sleep comfortably.

Since there’s no power supply and were not so certain when it will be back, mom decided to cook all the meat inside the fridge to avoid spoiling it. It’s like we’re having a special occasion because our dining table is full of food to eat.

We received no assurance from the electric company on when they can fix the power outage.

The water we secured before the typhoon only lasted until three days. After that we decided to leave for a while and stayed at my sister in-laws house where everything in their area was back to normal, the lights, and the water supply. Mom and my younger brother were left at home.

It’s a little bit hard for me to travel on nighttime with the distance of about 14 km. We’re riding on a motorcycle  with my son while hubby is the one driving. My tummy is heavy and emotionally I don’t feel okay after what we’ve been through. It’s really exhausting, but we have to keep going.

Some of my husband’s siblings were also there. I’m glad the house shows a happy mood. Kids were playing, there’s fun and laughter. And later that night the adults agreed to watch a horror movie, the latest one .

We enjoyed the whole experience, kids were screaming and shouting, and on the scariest part of the movie, when the monster is about to turn her head to reveal her true identity, all of us watching were very quite, staying focus on that very moment.. And then..

The lights and all the other appliances in the house suddenly turned off. Everybody’s screaming so loud, scared of the total darkness. It’s a power blackout again! So, we were not able to finish the movie that night. That’s was a funny and a little scary experience.

We stayed there for  a  day then back home for reality.

The power supply in our area was up four days later. Day after day life becomes normal again.

Almost three weeks after, on November 23, 2013,  I gave birth to a 7.5 lbs. healthy baby girl. 🙂

And today, November 27, 2014 we are experiencing another typhoon named Queenie. Our town is now under public storm signal number 1. Classes of all levels are all suspended.

It’s so cold outside. The wind is strong with a heavy rainfall.

Keep safe everyone.

Hello, Dear Friends from around the globe. I have waited for this very moment where I could go back into writing and interacting with you guys. I’ve been out for two years and you might as well ask questions like, where I’ve been?, what has happened in my life for the past two years?, Or if there were any changes that has happened? and a lot more.

Good news is I am now officially back into writing and I’m definitely back for good. I’ll be sharing some stuffs which took place during my.. let’s just say.. my vacation.

Within the past years me and my husband manage to overcome every challenges that come along our way. Our love for our family has become much stronger and we became more responsible for each other.  we have met new persons and some of them became our friends along the way.

I am much more excited to know how you, guys have been doing lately? Back into writing, this time would also mean back into visiting your blogs once again. 🙂

Early Morning Breakfast

Hello, Philippines and hello World.

I congratulate myself for waking up early today. I’ve done preparing food for breakfast. My son is still asleep. My husband has already left for work. He’ll be back in the afternoon. My mom in-law went to church early also.

After cooking, I do the laundry first since I don’t feel eating breakfast yet. My laundry basket is now empty but that’s just for a moment because later as my son wakes up, he’ll be taking a bath and me as well. So, another set of clothes for laundry. As soon as I’m done hanging the clothes outside I’ll have my breakfast. We have corned beef, dried fish, sliced bread, and hot chocolate drink for the menu.

Happy eating everyone.

My Son Got Mumps

Almost 6 days now since my son got mumps. I’m so worried because he loses his appetite and he is also  losing weight. Sometimes at night he cried a lot because of pain below his ears. I’ve just learned that mumps lasts 9 to 14 days and some reaches 18 days. I hope my son’s mumps will last only for a few days. I really feel pity for him because he suffers much.

Tomorrow we will be going to his doctor again for another check up. Huh..it is really expensive to get sick! But it is okay, more important is the health of our family.

What I Missed Most Is The Bonding Moments With My Dear Friends

I used to work at a particular company located at Mez II, Lapu-lapu City here in the Philippines. That was few years ago. My job wasn’t that easy for I have to lift up a huge tray filled with ink cartridge. Some of it were heavy and others were not. But the very special thing I can’t forget about this experienced was the friends I gained, and all our bonding moments. People were very friendly.

Late At Night

It’s 10:45pm now and definitely time for bed but me and my son are still up, waiting for my husband to come home from work. We just love to cuddle, kiss,  tell stories, and even took pictures together. My son is very talkative indeed and he loves to ask a lot of questions. Then you need to have answers to all his queries. “I Don’t Know” for an answer isn’t acceptable for my son or else he’ll get mad and even slap you on the face. I remember her Playgroup teacher once wrote on his report card that he is enthusiastic in learning new things.

How can I sleep?

Malls Were Closed

It’s 12:53 am now and I’m still up . We’re at my brother in-law’s place. Today is Good Friday here in the Philippines. It’s the day on which we commemorate the death of Jesus Christ on the Cross. Yesterday I thought of going to a mall just to but something necessary but sadly all malls nationwide were closed.. I still can’t sleep now and I felt a bit hungry. I think I’d like to eat some bread and drink a cup of coffee. Does this means I won’t be sleeping the whole day now? Uh, oh!
